Your Opinion Wanted
The REALTOR® Foundation launched an e-mail survey this week in order to gauge opinions of what motivates members to donate or not give at all. We are also interested in general impressions of the Foundation’s marketing efforts. The survey is 10 questions and should take approximately 5 minutes to complete. Access the survey via the e-mail sent to you from Molly Hahn or click here to go to the survey directly. |

Building a Living Legacy Makes a Big Splash
While Super Bowl XLIV may be over with a disappointing end, the city of Indianapolis and the REALTOR® Foundation are looking ahead to Super Bowl XLVI, which will take place in Indianapolis in 2012.
At this year’s annual Ball, a historic announcement was made regarding the Building a Living Legacy project. In observance of 100 years of service, MIBOR members will work through your industry’s philanthropic organization, the REALTOR® Foundation, to help reverse homelessness in central Indiana as part of the Super Bowl Housing Legacy project. The REALTOR® Foundation has pledged $500,000 to lift up an emerging neighborhood through this project and will renovate or build 32 homes in the area for families in need.
Already, $300,000 has been pledged from a small group of individual members for this project, which will reach above and beyond the Foundation’s normal grantmaking. Fundraising will continue throughout the next two years, and all homes will be completed for move-in by the end of 2011. Families who are residents of the renovated homes will have access to a multitude of support services from the John H. Boner Community Center.
Within just one week of the public announcement, others have begun to take notice. The project has gained media attention and the spotlight on the Foundation’s work is a wonderful boost to the project. Click here to view some of the coverage.

Regina Jones Takes the Reins as Foundation President
Regina Jones of Carpenter, REALTORS® has officially assumed the title of President of the REALTOR® Foundation for 2010. When asked what her motivation is for her deep involvement in the Foundation’s efforts, she said she has been inspired by a question posed by Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., “What are you doing for others?”
Regina’s main focus in 2010 is to help raise awareness of the Foundation’s efforts both inside and outside the REALTOR® community. She feels it is important for everyone to know what problems exist in central Indiana.
While she was previously a dancer, her favorite job outside of real estate is being a mom to Dillon and Alexandra. Follow Regina’s leadership thoughts on the Foundation blog at http://blog.realtorfoundation.org

Are you Running or Walking the Mini Marathon?
For the last two years, a grassroots effort has taken place among participants of the 500 Festival Mini Marathon to raise money for the REALTOR® Foundation. A small, but dedicated group of MIBOR members have used their mini experience to request pledges from family and friends for the Foundation. In 2009, they collectively raised more than $2,500. Of course the race is sold out, but we know many members have some of those coveted spots. Use it for good and help raise funds to help the homeless in central Indiana. To find out how, contact Foundation Board of Director member Jeri Ballantine at jball@mibor.net or 317/805-7360.

Thank You to Our Ball Sponsors!
The Ball, held January 23 at the Indiana Roof Ballroom, was a night of true celebration for many, including the REALTOR® Foundation. Highlights included the announcement of the Building a Living Legacy project mentioned above, and of course, this year’s industry awards. Click here to view pictures from the evening.
As has been the case for the last four years, proceeds from the silent auction benefited the Foundation’s annual grant efforts. This year’s total raised was more than $28,000, which was a 25 percent increase from last year’s total. The Foundation wishes to thank all of those who purchased auction items and especially the sponsors of this year’s Ball. Click here to see a list of this year’s sponsors.
The Foundation is privileged to have support from the distinguished Ball guests and sponsors for both annual funding and for our long-term approach to the housing crisis in central Indiana through Building a Living Legacy.
